Lake of the Woods
Lake of the Woods is renowned for his abundance of gamefish. Outstanding walleye fishing is the focus here. However, the area also boasts excellent fishing for northern pike, muskie, lake trout, and bass. Our outfitter is located on the Canadian side on the shores of beautiful Whitefish Bay in northwest Ontario, just 70 miles from International Falls, MN. This is an easy drive from most midwest states. Spring time in Ontario means fishing shallow. A jig and minnow on a shallow reef of 7 feet or less, or a rocky shoreline in 1-3 feet of water can produce walleye fishing action like you've never seen before. Late spring and early summer, as the water warms, walleye will typically move into deeper water. Thirty to forty foot holes will many times hold large schools of "shore lunch" sized walleye. But, don't forget the deep water walleye
often found in over 50 feet of water. While the "fish of 1000 casts" often times holds true to it's name for some Ontario fishermen, many guests report catching a muskie or two while fishing for walleye. Lake of the Woods is world renowned for its large muskie, producing numerous muskie over 50". Even reports of 60 inchers are not greatly exaggerated! Lake of the Woods also produces fine Northerns, and fish over 40" are common. Some close-by favorite spots for pike are just a stones throw away from the lodge. Whitefish Bay is one of the most noted lake trout areas on Lake of the Woods. Lakers can be found literally just a cast away from the lodge. Bass fishing on Lake of the Woods is often times overlooked and under-rated. Several of our guests report catching nice size bass simply fishing our favorite walleye haunts. Many bass are caught by simply exploring inlets, bays and rocky reefs. Rest and relax in the comfort of your well-appointed cabin. All cabins give you a beautiful view of the lake and range in size from one bedroom to five bedrooms. All cabins have satellite television, carpeting, refrigerators and full baths with tubs and showers. The three and four bedroom cabins have two full baths. Each room has individually controlled electric heat & most of our cabins are air-conditioned. Daily maid service is included in the rate. Relax in the unique dining room and lounge, where there are several 60' Norway pines growing through the floor and on up through the ceiling! The dining room atmosphere is casual, yet sophisticated. The menu offers a choice for each course and our meal hours are long for your convenience. An individual table is reserved for your party. If you wish to hang back and relax at the resort you are sure to find a spot on the beach or another activity to enjoy. Go for a walk and glimpse our local wildlife, play a game of tennis, go kayaking, take a swim, play a round of mini-golf, take a short drive to the 9-hole municipal golf course for a unique wilderness golfing experience, or visit the unique gift shops in nearby Sioux Narrows.
