The smallest of the four North American moose species, the Shiras bull moose is considered to be of trophy quality if the antler width exceeds 40". If you're lucky enough to draw this coveted tag in the respective lotteries, good Shiras moose hunting can be found in the states of Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, Idaho, and Utah. Cabela's TAGS can assist you with applying for the proper tags. Guaranteed landowner tags are available with some of our outfitters in Utah. These hunts are typically 100% success as the moose are not pressured. For the hunter who does not want to bother with drawing a license, the landowner tag is probably the best way to go. Please be aware that these hunts are at a very high demand, so we recommend booking this hunt 2-3 years in advance.
