Brown Bear Hunt in Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge
A mature, male Kodiak bear is truly a force of nature. He walks with a swagger, rocking side to side in a slow, powerful rhythm. Pursuing Kodiak's big costal brown bears can be one of the greatest hunting adventures in the northern hemisphere. This outfitter has the exclusive Federal use permit in the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge. He gets three (3) permits in the spring and one (1) permit in the fall. This is an extreme, backpack, expedition style hunt where big, mature, Kodiak bears are the goal and typically the outcome. Backpacking from lightweight spike camps with food and sleeping bags, allows the hunter to access unspoiled areas and hunting time is maximized. This is a huge advantage when it comes to hunting these old boars as they are most active late in the day. This 40+ year veteran outfitter will be your guide. He hunts big 9' to 10' bears. Being able to access the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge and hunt it's giant bears is a serious privilege and because permits are so limited, early booking is absolutely essential.
